We are hiring a casual Cook position at the Maryville Retreat Center (Holly, MI).

  • Working 8 - 16 hours per week, some weekends as needed.
  • Working under the guidance of the Retreat Director/Supervisor, the Cook works to ensure a delicious and pleasant dining experience for our guests at an events/retreat center. This position follows recipes and is responsible for prepping and assembling dishes while maintaining a sanitary kitchen.

General Summary:

The Cook's primary responsibility is to prepare food according to established menus, recipes, and sanitary standards. This position ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local food service standards as well as the organization's policies and procedures. We host a variety of receptions, retreats, and special events throughout the year, and we are hiring casual/per diem Cooks to ensure our guests have a delicious and memorable meal. This position will train with the Dining Supervisor to learn how to prepare each of our menu items quickly and efficiently to serve a large crowd.

    Education and Experience:

    • Minimum of two (2) years of professional cooking experience in a high-volume restaurant/food service environment (working in a commercial or institutional food service environment is a PLUS).
    • Experience in Assisted Living, Long-Term Care, hospitals, or other healthcare environments is preferred but not required.
    • ServSafe certification is preferred but not required.
    • Experience working in hotels, resorts, and hospitality is helpful but not required.
    • Excellent meal prep skills.
    • Ability to work various shifts including evenings, and weekends.
    • Must possess a valid state driver’s license in good standing.
    • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
