The Felician Sisters of North America is hiring a full-time Facility Supervisor to work alongside and lead the maintenance team at the Holy Name of Mary Convent, located on 25+ beautiful acres in Mississauga, Ontario. This is an on-call position (working supervisor) with availability during evenings and weekend hours as needed. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with the maintenance staff, sisters, and various employees to work cooperatively to ensure that the maintenance of the buildings, grounds, and orchards is professionally taken care of. Experience in facilities/building maintenance is required.

Knowledge of landscaping and lawn care is needed to take care of the flower beds, pruning of bushes and trees, and regular outdoor maintenance. Most of the work is outdoors. Therefore, the person needs to have appropriate clothing and footwear according to weather conditions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Supervisor Duties:
• Organizes the other staff to ensure all the necessary work is accomplished. Strives to utilize the gifts of each staff member and ensure a peaceful working environment.
• Delegates the work evenly between the other staff and keeps a record of the work done each day.
• Keeps a checklist of regular maintenance items, with dates of the work done.
• After checking with the sister in charge, he/she contacts other companies if their work is needed.
• Is available to deal with companies and to be with their employees to ensure that the work they came to do is accomplished properly, even if it is after normal hours. Keeps a record of their work. Verifies the invoices with the sister in charge.
• Requires being on-call and availble to come to the convent home at any time of day or night if there is an emergency that occurs after the normal work hours or on the weekend.

2. Ground/Orchard Maintenance:
• Lawn and flowerbed maintenance.
• Pruning of fruit and other trees and shrubs
• Fruit picking and sorting
• Waste removal

3. Snow Removal

• Makes decisions about when, and how the snow/ice is removed, and creates a schedule for the work of snow removal even when this occurs after hours or on weekends.

4. Equipment maintenance:
• Report any problems to the sister in charge
• Scheduling regular maintenance of larger machinery and when asked of cars and trucks
• Ensure the safe handling and proper storage of tools, cleaning supplies, chemicals, and related materials, as well taking care of the cleaning of the machinery after use

5. Pool Maintenance:
• As required

6. Building Maintenance:
• Cleaning of grease traps, kitchen stove hood, fans, water tanks, windows
• Other indoor maintenance work as required

7. Driving:
• Using a truck or tractor to drive as required (eg obtaining supplies, maintaining grounds, taking apples to cooler, etc.)

8. Other:
• Any assignment given by the sister in charge
• Available to meet with other province-wide facility personnel for phone calls/meetings in the USA
